Event | Tsinghua University Institute for AI annual conference and Beijing-Shanghai-Hong Kong AI exchange opens tomorrow
On October 10 and 11, the Tsinghua University Institute for Artificial Intelligence Annual Academic Conference and Beijing-Shanghai-Hong Kong AI Academic Exchange will be held on the Tsinghua campus. Building on the institute's annual academic exchange, this year's conference further connects universities, research institutions and innovation forces in artificial intelligence across Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and beyond.
The conference covers frontier directions including foundational AI theory, foundation models, agents and safety, embodied AI and multimodal perception. Through a main forum, thematic sub-forums and collaborative seminars, it brings together leading experts and scholars to promote deep cross-regional, cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary exchange and research collaboration, gradually building a high-level academic platform rooted in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong and open to the global AI frontier.
Conference agenda and main forum
On the morning of October 10, the main forum will be held in the A278 multipurpose hall of the Lee Shau Kee Science and Technology Building at Tsinghua University. The forum has invited Hu Shimin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor in Tsinghua's Department of Computer Science and Technology, and Liu Jun, member of the US National Academy of Sciences and professor in Tsinghua's Department of Statistics and Data Science, among other AI experts and scholars. See the image below for more main forum information.
Foundation models sub-forum
The capability range of foundation models is extending from language understanding and generation to reasoning, interaction and complex task handling. As the capability boundary of AI expands, new research questions surface: how do models acquire more solid capabilities? How should efficiency and reliability be balanced? And how should the demands of real-world scenarios be answered effectively? This sub-forum focuses on the foundation model field, bringing together diverse research perspectives to keep probing these key questions that shape model development.

Researchers, practitioners and friends from all fields who care about the development of artificial intelligence are warmly invited to gather on the Tsinghua campus to spark ideas and open new space for collaboration.
About us
TsinghuaNLP (Tsinghua Natural Language Processing and Social Humanities Computing Lab) was founded in the late 1970s. It is the earliest and one of the most influential research units conducting natural language processing research in China, and is the affiliated unit of the Computational Linguistics Committee of the Chinese Information Processing Society of China and the Causal and Uncertainty Artificial Intelligence Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. Led by Professor Sun Maosong, the overall academic leader, and Professors Liu Yang and Liu Zhiyuan, who lead its research directions, the lab conducts systematic and in-depth research centered on Chinese natural language processing, covering language models, cross-modal models, Chinese information processing, machine translation, knowledge graphs, smart education, and social humanities and arts computing, with considerable academic influence at home and abroad. In recent years the lab has undertaken major research tasks including National 973 projects, National Key R&D Program projects and major projects of the National Social Science Fund, and has established close academic partnerships with companies such as Tencent and Huawei.
